Hello, my name is Lacey. I’m a two year old female Labrador. I arrived at The Mayhew because my owner had a baby and felt she no longer had the time to look after me. I am an active and affectionate girl. I’m toilet trained, I travel well in the car and I can be left on my own for a few hours without any problems. I also know the usual commands which I respond well to. Unfortunately I didn’t receive the proper socialisation a young dog needs and as a result I can be nervous of strangers and other dogs.
On walks I need to wear a long line to prevent me from running and barking at dogs I see in the park. I’m a very playful dog and I love my toys, which I like to carry around with me and I always try to squeeze in as many as possible! I have been known to bark at strangers but I’m very loving and affectionate with people I know.
I am now looking for a forever home with an active and experienced dog owner who has researched my breed type. I’m looking for an all adult home. I could possibly live with another dog providing we’re the right match but no cats please. My new owners will be expected to continue my training and socialisation, take me to training classes and provide me with a minimum of one hour of controlled off lead exercise in the park every day. If you’re interested in adopting me you will need to be fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog, you will be taking on a twelve year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.
I hope to see you soon
